A 62-year-old Ottawa man collapsed and died while cross-country skiing in Gatineau Park on Friday.
Police say the man was found by another skier at around 1:30 p.m., lying unconscious on Trail No. 1 in an isolated section of the park. The skier alerted emergency services who tried to resuscitate the man while waiting for extrication. Park employees brought the man out on a snowmobile and he was then taken to Hull hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police did not release the man’s name.
