Last year’s Canada Day celebration in the nation’s capital hit most of the right notes with the public, a survey commissioned by the Department of Canadian Heritage shows. The survey was carried out on-site, with followup questionnaires sent to some initial respondents.

Here are some highlights, by the numbers:

86: Percentage satisfied with Canada Day festivities in 2015.

74: Percentage satisfied with the entertainment and performances.

75: Percentage who visited Parliament Hill, the most popular site.

40: Percentage who visited Jacques Cartier Park.

41: Percentage of participants from outside the capital region.

22: Percentage from other countries, mostly the United States.

8: Percentage from Quebec.

7: Percentage from Atlantic Canada.

35: Percentage of national capital region residents who hosted family or friends for Canada Day.

19: Percentage who cited the fireworks as the main highlight of Canada Day.

16: Percentage who said the performances were the highlight.

87: Percentage of visitors who agreed their Canada Day visit made them feel the capital is a “vibrant and enjoyable” place.

58: Percentage who said their visit gave them a better understanding of the capital’s role and significance.

29: Percentage who thought Canada Day festivities could be made better by improving the content or activities.

20: Percentage who suggested improving things such as crowd control, general cleanliness and transportation.

$338.54: Average spent on Canada Day-related expenses per person.
