The Ottawa Carleton District School Board has closed Castor Valley Elementary School due to a broken water pump and is urging parents of students at the school to go and collect their children.
The Osgoode-area school, on Grey’s Creek Road near the intersection of Snake Island Road, has been frantically trying to alert parents to the issue, while assuring that the children are in no danger and there have been no injuries as a result of the situation.
Staff will remain on site to supervise until all students have been picked up. If you cannot pick up your child, please contact the school immediately at 613-821-1272.
Students who are not picked up will be sent home via school bus at the end of the regular school day. The Extended Day Program will also be closed for the day.
Work is underway to repair the water pump and school is expected to be open as usual tomorrow. Parents are being asked to watch for updates about the situation by e-mail, as well as on the district and school website.
