另一名16岁乘客卡布列拉．雷森(Gabriella Lairson)说，她和父亲在7日下午2时30分就感觉到船身摇晃，船长指示旅客留在卧舱内。雷森听到浴室的玻璃破裂，便把物品放进抽屉和橱内，以免在客舱内乱飞。
这对父女后来走到甲板上，用手机拍摄海上波涛汹涌的录影，当时强劲的风力几乎可把手机吹走，回到客舱后他们把门关紧。
该游轮载运超过4500名旅客和1600名工作人员，6日从新州自由角出发后，原定8日中午抵达佛罗里达州卡纳维尔港。但是皇家加勒比海表示，由于天气恶劣，同时顾虑到旅客的舒适，该船将折返，回到自由港。
海岸防卫队表示，该游轮折返是出于谨慎的防范措施，但是并未陷入危险，并称每小时都与该船连系，而且天气后来好转。船长则告诉旅客，这是他碰过挑战最大的一天。
