A 20-year-old Ottawa man has been charged in connection with two recent pharmacy robberies.
In the first, at about 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 30, a man walked into a drug store on the 1200 block of Greenbank Road. He demanded and received an undisclosed amount of narcotics and fled.
On Feb. 1, the same suspect entered a supermarket on the 3700 block of Strandherd Road in Barrhaven and went to the pharmacy department, where he again demanded narcotics. Staff refused and the suspect fled.
There were no injuries in either incident.
Symon Melnick — who police said was “in custody on another matter” — was charged with robbery, attempted robbery, wearing a disguise and two counts of breach of probation.
He is to appear in court Feb. 15.
