generally, if you are landed immigrant, you need to make appointment, which you make from US embassy web, just US$10(easy) using credit card. and in the interview, you had better prepare everything to show you have to come back: such as you study here, or work here, or have car or house here. if you have landed for two years, it would be earier....for B1/B2 VISA, it is better to say you travel with some travel agent, and show your schedule, had better not to say a friend in US, of course, family and relatives are exception.... I just got my VISA in July, the office just ask me three questions:
one is about the schedule
one is about applying for citizenship
one is about what will i do after graduat ( i am student)
not to hard questions for B1/B2 VISA, even though you have the refused records. for my case, I was refused twice in 2001.
