People in the Burnstown area west of Arnprior may be excused for looking twice at a coyote staring at them from the side of the road, and not running away.
The coyote, shot dead and frozen stiff, was posed upright beside McHugh Sideroad after a plow left a large snowbank able to hold it up.
Resident Kurt Johnson calls it “Valley humour.” He posted a few photos on Facebook that are now being passed around online.
“It really was alive looking and it spooked is when we first saw it,” said Johnson, who walks his dog there often. Even his dog was nervous about approaching the dead animal.
