A young family of four was out on the street and their two dogs dead after a fire struck their Aylmer home Sunday afternoon.
A neighbour raised the alarm at 3:35 p.m. that the two-storey house at 146 Rue de la Terrasse was in flames. It had been evacuated by the time Gatineau firefighters arrived and an aggressive attack knocked down the fire within an hour. However, they were unable to save the pets.
The fire department is investigating the cause of the blaze.
Damage is estimated at $70,000.
