Police identify Arnprior man charged after 29-year-old found dead on road

Ontario Provincial Police have identified the man charged in connection with an alleged hit-and-run near Arnprior early Saturday morning.

Stuart Carswell, 63, of Arnprior was arrested Saturday and faces a charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court May 4.

Chris Walsh, 29, was found dead on a road in McNab/Braeside Township early Saturday morning after being struck by a car. A driver delivering newspapers along Russet Drive discovered Walsh’s body at around 5 a.m.

The OPP investigation continues. Anyone with information about Walsh’s death is asked to contact the OPP Renfrew County Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122.

Chris Walsh, who died on Saturday, April 2, 2016 after being struck by a car, loved the demolition derby. He would spend hours rebuilding and painting cars to compete in events.
