A man was taken to hospital with injuries including smoke inhalation after fire gutted a Manotick home early Thursday evening, displacing him and an elderly woman.
Ottawa Fire Services got a 911 call reporting smoke at 1090 Edward street at 5:35 p.m. They arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the front door and side of the bungalow, made a quick entry and had the fire inside under control in about 30 minutes.
The man’s injuries were not considered critical.
Damage was pegged at $200,000 to the house and $50,000 to contents. A fire service investigator was on the scene trying to find the cause of the fire.
