现在留学生能申请SOCIAL INSURANCE PIN NUMBER吗

Employment Authorization/Work Permit*
Student Authorization/Study Permit* and a contract of employment from the learning institution (or from an employer on campus)
Visitor Record* (indicating authorization to work) and a contract of employment
Permit to Come into or Remain in Canada/Temporary Resident Permit*
Extension of Permit to Temporary Resident Permit* (will no longer be accepted after December 31st, 2005)
Diplomatic Identity Card issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade ; for categories D, I or J and a letter of permission of employment
*These documents are issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

我们留学生有这个吗?好象有这个能办这张卡还有现在人家跟我说留学生只有在CAPMPUS里打工才能申请,那能不能在CAMPUS里找个工,为了搞这张卡那?没这张卡真的不方便,一年跟房东几白快钱的TAX都不能退

u should hvae a some form kind of SIN. haven't heard anyone who is VISA student and didn't get back tax return. Your landlord just cheated on you. In this way, he can save moeny for his property tax. IT's his reponsibility to give you a document at end of each year for tax purpose, and u could sue him, if he is not.

没有呀.房东还陪我一起去了那,里面的人说VISA STUDENT要在CAMPUS工作才能办SOCIAL INSURANCE　ＰＩＮ　ＮＵＭＢＥＲ!这是新的policy!气死我了,每年几百快的TAX拿不回来了!是不是没这卡不能退税呀!

不会吧，去年10月左右就用新政策了，所以我有好多同学去年也没有办成SIN卡，可是今年退税的时候还是拿到退税了呀！

sin card是从去年11月开始不能给国际学生办理的。其实业没有用，一看就知道了，国际学生是9开头的。退税应该没有问题

那没卡凭啥退,不是他们说REFOUND TAX FORM上要填INSURANCE NUMBER吗?

这个我也不是很清楚了，我是有di，但是及格朋友都退成了。交表格的时候那人会问你是不是有，说没就成

我问LANDRORD,可他说他要我的SIN NUMBER 去GOVERMENT包税,如国我没,他就不抱了,那么这样我的TAX不就拿不回来了呀

there must be some way for your guys to hvae tax refund, some kind of SIn number must given to your guys. otherwise, how is that possible for new student this year to claim tax then? Beside you claim tax refund youself, not through your landlord.

The new expiry dates cover Social Insurance numbers beginning
with the digit 9 (900 series), which are provided to temporary
foreign workers, foreign students and refugee claimants.

Officials said under the new system all such SINs will be valid
to an expiry date that is linked to the immigration status of the
applicant. Existing 900-series cardholders will have to get their
numbers revalidated with an expiry date.

The Auditor-General issued a report two years ago that commended
Human Resources for taking initial steps in reducing the number of
fraudulent Social Insurance numbers in circulation.

The new measures expected to be highlighted in Tuesday's report
are designed to plug the remaining holes.
其实留学生在去年以前都是可以申请SIN卡的~
只是今年开始改法了，9打头的都要换，换了就不能再发了，而且今年才来的留学生（like me）也不能申请了（申请很多东西都要填SIN NUMBER的，没有真的很不方便）。
就算不说打不打工的问题（校内可以打工啊，所以留学生也能申请不奇怪），我们每年也要退税的，没有SIN卡就不能退税了，这就是为什么没有SIN卡的留学生都那么急，旧的留学生也只是用到今年（也就是说退税啊什么的退到今年为止），以后就没有了~（我们好歹每年交那么多税，没得退很惨的~.

但是不换号码,各地怎么执行就不清楚了

有没有知道没SIN NUMBE的情况下,能退税呀!我房东说我没SIN NUMBER他就不向GOVERMENT抱税了!谁知道改咋办

HUMAN RESOUCE的人说,只要你能在CAMPUS里找到工作就能办,但是在CAMPUS打工,一般都要问你SIN NUMBER,因为他们要帮你抱税,有的话你年底能退税
