There’s plenty of moose on the loose, with three crashes in the last week spurring Killaloe OPP to warn motorists to watch out for the big animals.

Police said that collisions with the largest members of the deer family — a big bull could weigh almost 700 kg — can be particularly dangerous especially for those behind the wheel of a small car. Motorists are advised to drive the speed limit to give themselves time to react and watch for signs indicating moose and deer crossings.

A Seguin Township man was taken to hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening and his vehicle had to be towed after a crash on Hwy. 28 Thursday.

The two other crashes, in Madawaska Valley Township and Algonquin Park, left vehicles damaged but the drivers unhurt.
