A motorcyclist is in hospital, but his helmet took the main impact of a head-on crash with a truck at Slater and Kent Streets Thursday afternoon.

The 37-year-old man has hip and knee damage and facial injuries. He may also have internal injuries.

But a spokesman for the Ottawa Paramedic Service says the man has no broken bones or head injuries beyond the damage to his face, he never lost consciousness, and his condition is stable.

His helmet, however, is a write-off.

OC Transpo says bus service will be slowed but not forced to detour, as one lane of Slater is open.

The collision was on Slater just east of Kent. It wasn’t immediately clear how it occurred. Both streets are one-way.
