An Ontario man was arrested by the Sûreté du Québec early Thursday after police stopped a car travelling more than 40 kilometres per hour over the 70 kph limit on Highway 5 near the Fournier Boulevard overpass.
Police said the 25-year-old driver registered a blood-alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit.
The man was arrested and later released on a summons to appear in a Gatineau court July 27.
In addition to seeing his vehicle impounded for 30 days, the man received two fines totalling $832, five demerit points were added to his license for speeding.
The man’s identity was not released.
