Gatineau police arrested a 38-year-old Gatineau woman on Thursday evening around 8 p.m. after the woman were involved in a crash near the intersection of Gamelin Street and Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes.
Police were called to the scene where a car had left the road and immediately suspected the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and taken to a police station where they tested their blood-alcohol levels and found that they were more than four times over the legal limit.
She was released from custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
Her vehicle was seized for 30 days and her license has been suspended for 90 days.
Meanwhile a few hours earlier, Gatineau police were conducting a speeding blitz in front of a city playground at 479 des Hautes-Plaines Blvd. in the Hull area, when they picked up a vehicle travelling at 71 km/h in a 30 km/h zone.
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Mansfield, was automatically fined $532 and had six demerit points added to his driving record.
On top of that, the driver received a second $482 ticket for driving a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Finally, the vehicle he was driving was seized for a period of 30 days and his right to obtain a driver’s license for 7 days.
The man’s vehicle was also seized for 30 days.
