Following an unusually cold spring, parkways in Gatineau Park will finally reopen to vehicle traffic starting Friday at noon, the National Capital Commission has announced.
The first to reopen will be the Gatineau, Champlain, Fortune Lake and Mackenzie King parkways.
The Philippe Lake Parkway will open Friday, May 13, at noon, along with the campground and La Pêche Lake access road.
The major Gatineau parkways offer more than 30 kilometres of scenic routes and provide access to recreational and nature interpretation sites such as Pink Lake, Champlain Trail and Champlain Lookout, Huron Lookout, King Mountain Trail and the Mackenzie King Estate.
The NCC say mountain bikers will have access to designated Gatineau Park trails beginning Sunday, May 15.
