Ottawa – Lansdowne Park is the place to be for music, displays and, of course, tulips, throughout the 64th annual Canadian Tulip Festival, which takes place May 12 to 23.

The festival kicks off on May 12 with Ignite the Night, a fireworks display and music show that will evoke memories of epic fantasy battles from the Kingdoms of Modor and Westeros. It all takes place at TD Place Stadium beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at tulipfestival.ca.

Come back May 22 for Electric Tulip, a festival finale featuring the multi-sensory splendor of fireworks, choreography and electronic dance music.

Other festival highlights at Lansdowne include:

  • Music daily at the Aberdeen Pavilion, featuring various genres: rock, orchestra and jazz
  • Big Swing Dance at the Aberdeen Pavilion, May 13
  • Second World War vehicles and re-enactments on the Great Lawn, May 14 and 15
  • International Pavilion Friendship Stage – featuring daily performances from various cultures and countries

Also, Ottawa Fury FC will play the Jacksonville Armada at TD Place Stadium on Sunday, May 22. Ticket holders are invited to come early for the game and enjoy the tulip festival activities. Your advance-purchased ticket or season’s ticket card lets you ride free on OC Transpo.

A walk or bike ride along the Rideau Canal on your way to Lansdowne will allow you to take in the colourful tulips along the canal and at Dow’s Lake.
