OPP investigators say the two men who helped a woman from a burning car on May 7 have been located but do not wish to be identified.
“The men said they did what anyone would have done” said OPP Const. Sandra Barr.
Police say the pair were driving an older model pickup truck and stopped to offer assistance at the scene of the 12:30 a.m. crash on Highway 15 near Frayn Road, outside of Smiths Falls, where an 18-year-old man was found dead at the scene.
The men used a tow strap on their own vehicle to move one of the two crashed vehicles farther away from a burning car that had caught fire.
A woman was trapped inside the towed vehicle.
Police say had it not been for the acts of these two men, the outcome for the trapped women would have been tragic.
Barr said the rescuers will be recognized for their efforts but would not provide further details.
