Para Transpo staff are receiving pay raises and the veteran workers will have more vacation.
An arbitrated settlement released Wednesday gives workers salary increases of 2.25 per cent in 2015 and two per cent in each of 2016 and 2017.
Union president Clint Crabtree said he is “very happy with the award.”
The Para Transpo bargaining unit, which is part of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 279, was without a contract since the beginning of 2015.
Workers who have 18 years of service will receive an extra week of vacation.
Sick leave will be improved to match the level workers receive in the OC Transpo conventional service.
On the other hand, the arbitrator reduced the number of float days from seven to one in the Para Transpo unit.
The arbitration award also improves vision care for Para Transpo operators and makes Remembrance Day a paid statutory holiday, just like it is for other Transpo bargaining units.
There are about 170 members in the Para Transpo unit.
