A 14-year-old Gatineau girl is among a pair of youths facing gun charges Monday after two men were shot and a third was stabbed in the stomach in the ByWard Market early Saturday morning.
Ottawa police patrol officers were called to the area of Dalhousie and Rideau streets at 2:50 a.m. and found three men with non life-threatening injuries. Two were taken to hospital but a third refused medical treatment.
While at the scene, an officer saw one suspect pass off a gun to another. A loaded firearm was seized and five people were arrested.
The teen girl faces a string of gun charges, including careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and accessory after the fact. She was released on a promise to appear in court.
A 17-year-old male from Ottawa faces charges including careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, two counts of breach of recognizance and accessory after the fact. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
A police spokesman was not able to say whether one or both youths is alleged to have fired the weapon or what type of gun was involved.
An 18-year-old man was also charged with drug possession.
Two other people were released without charge.
