A 19-year-old Ottawa man is facing weapons and drug charges after a traffic stop late Friday night in the Dumaurier Avenue area, Ottawa police said Saturday.
At about 11:40 p.m., patrol officers involved in traffic enforcement saw a vehicle run a stop sign. After the vehicle was stopped, a loaded handgun and marijuana were found, police added.
Darren Flint has been charged with unlawfully possessing a Schedule II substance, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and eight weapons-related charges, including possession of a loaded restricted firearm and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.
Flint was in custody, police said, and was to have appeared in court Saturday.
The west division continued to investigate, police added.
