The Turkish flag will be flown at Ottawa city hall over the coming days to mourn those killed and wounded in the suicide attacks at Istanbul’s busy Ataturk Airport.
The death toll stands at 41 in the Tuesday attack, in which three attackers arrived in a taxi and began firing at the terminal entrance. They blew themselves up after police fired back.
Officials say 239 people were injured.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has said early signs pointed to “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant,” but there has no confirmation from the group.
“Mayor Jim Watson has asked that the Turkish flag be flown at City Hall over the coming days to mourn the tragic and senseless loss of life which happened in Istanbul yesterday and to express the sadness of all residents of Ottawa,” the city said in a release.
