Ottawa paramedics treated a 21-year-old pedestrian for significant head injuries after he was struck by a car late Canada Day night in the Bridlewood area.

The collision occurred just before 10:30 p.m. in a subdivision at the corner of Harness Lane and Stonehaven Drive near Eagleson Road.

He was stabilized by paramedics using advanced life support and was taken to hospital in critical condition.

His name was not released, but police did indicate he lives in the area.

Police also said his condition had improved Saturday morning, and he was listed in serious but stable condition at the hospital.

Ottawa police continue to investigate the incident, but did not expect charges would be laid in this collision.
