Whether it was the tempestuous weather or some other factor, first responders reported Canada Day festivities downtown were for the most part safe and law-abiding this year.
Ottawa police reported a final tally of 49 arrests in connection with Canada Day, only one of them a criminal charge.
No information was provided on the criminal charge.
Meanwhile, paramedics also treated 84 people, most of 65 of who were treated and released.
None of the 19 who required hospital treatment were considered to be in serious condition.
In 2015, when the weather was hotter, almost 500 people were treated by paramedics and at first aid stations.
