Two men charged after shots fired in Barrhaven Sunday night

Ottawa police have charged two men in connection with an incident Sunday night in which shots were fired near a Barrhaven home.

No one was injured in the incident on Astoria Crescent.

According to police, reports of gunfire were made around 8 p.m. in the area, witnesses were able to provide a description of the vehicle that the suspects were travelling in as it fled the scene. The vehicle was recovered later that night.

Abdukerim Ibrah Hussen, 21, of Ottawa faces charges including careless storage of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of proceeds obtained by crime in excess of $5,000. He is also facing a number charges related to drug trafficking. He was to appear in an Ottawa court on Tuesday.

Also facing charges is Edwin Edouard, 21 ,of Ottawa who is charged with one count of possessing narcotics.

A third person, who was in the suspects’ vehicle when it was located by police, was arrested but not charged.
