Ottawa – The City will reach a major milestone in the Greenbank Road widening project, Friday at noon. Two lanes of Greenbank Road that run beneath the VIA Rail overpass will open to traffic from Malvern Drive to Wessex/Berrigan.
The underpass beneath the VIA Rail tracks will allow vehicles to move freely on Greenbank Road and will enhance safety for vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and trains. Two additional lanes will open later this fall.
At this time, the multi-use pathway will also open from Malvern to Wessex, improving travel options for cyclists and pedestrians.
The Greenbank Road widening project is part of Ottawa on the Move, which is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
