A 26-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuriesThursday morning when the chainsaw he was operating on a lift kicked back and sliced his arm.
Ottawa paramedics received several 911 calls to a tree-cutting site on Sharkey Crescent in Cumberland at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Paramedics found the 26-year-old man who had been working in a bucket lift, seven metres above the ground when the incident happened. His co-workers had used a T-shirt to make a tourniquet in an effort to stanch the bleeding.
The man was airlifted from scene by ORNGE helicopter. He is in critical condition in an Ottawa hospital.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour will launch an investigation into the case.
