If u mean the story itself, well, everyone with a normal heart knows at least a good girl should know what is self-esteem and a person without respect to his or her country will never be respected by most people, I can understand why u feel mad at this, or say, most of us will. My friend sent the same thing to me months ago and asked me what I think about it, I said I really feel ashamed for this kind of thing if it's true though I am from Shanghai too, but we can't decide which city we were born, what kind of families we are from, it might be humble, might be rich, the only certain thing is, we can decide what we wanna be and try to keep the right judgement, everyone from the same city all shares the same mind? I don't think so.
I can tell u a true thing happened around me, I swear it's not fake, there is an old couple in Shanghai, the old lady is from Korea, she got caught by japanese when she was around 20 and sent to serve the army, well, she got raped and lost contact with her families, she even lost the ability to born a child, it's a tragedy for a woman. after the war ended, she stayed in Shanghai and fortunately, she met her husband who's a very nice person and he tried his best to take care of this lady regardless of whatever happened to her, it never changed a person's nature, my mom got to know them in their factory due to some work. They lived a very poor life, from then on, my mom tried to help the lady to reach her families in Korea, for a dying person(she's around 70 at that time and got a serious heartattack), her only hope was to meet her families again and the japanese who brought such a disaster to her should be punished....well, many other people in shanghai feel so irritated, some good lawyers and even many students in shanghai volunteered to help this old couple and these people including my mom afforded all fees for her operation and other stuffs for nothing repayed, none of them are rich people, even the lawyers, for helping such a couple people can get what? Money? Any prizes for peace or reputation? Nope, nothing, just for making their hearts calm when facing such a thing....Could u see anything good in this case regardless whether we are shanghainese or not? You can say if it happened in other cities in China, it could be the same, so what? My friend, shanghainese are also chinese, don't put all negative comments on all people from the same place just because u saw SOME counterexamples, that's unfair, just like we can never say all shanghainese will be willing to do this, so many of us are still keep looking around without doing anything. As a girl from Shanghai I know how much money, or we say material things can change a person, but do u think everyone in the same city will lower their values to agree with any evil things as japanese did? All girls will fall for people like that? I guess it could be the end of the world if it really does. I even feel sick about that kind of person no matter how rich he is, how capable he is or whatever position he owns, chauvinism and the brutality of some japanese will never be admired, twisted humanity will never be agreed~~~~
When I saw the same post in another subforum I didn't say anything, I've been kinda numb about these kind of stories in allusion to Shanghainese again and again, living in another countries, people still got broken up by locations and bias,it's really the most woeful thing, cos the story is only about one person but it puts a gap among so many people
I don't mean to offend anyone here and I just hope things like this will never influence people's proper judgement for a group of people
