Porsche E-Performance equates to goose bumps, G-forces, adrenalin. A hybrid drive that perfectly combines the combustion engine and electric machine. For your everyday life. For an outstanding driving experience. For the future of the Sports Car. Porsche Connect services make your connection with your Panamera 4 E-Hybrid even closer.
The Future of the Sports Car
The new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.
"It is the first model of a new generation of plug-in hybrids at Porsche." And it ought to change your view of hybrid technology. And your everyday life. Pure Sports Car performance with intelligent technologies and the pooled experience from more than 60 years of motor sports. There, we put the E-Performance concept to the test time and time again, and we are paving the way to the future of all series production Sports Cars. "The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid contains the genes of the 918 Spyder. For the driver, this means greater spontaneity and dynamic response," says Dr. Gernot Döllner, Head of the Model Line.
A leap into the future
Plug-in hybrid technology.
"The new E-hybrid model is all about performance."
The combination of combustion engine and electric machine is crucial for the peak performance. The combustion engine builds up power and torque as engine speed increases. The maximum torque of the electric machine is available immediately.
Electric machine
Combustion engine
As a result, consistently high overall torque and dynamic responsiveness are available over an extremely wide rpm range. "Performance that you notice immediately, but which also keeps going over long distances."
The performance kit for the future
An overview of the data.
Panamera 4 E-Hybrid
Maximum system power 462 hp
2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine 330 hp
Electric machine 136 hp
14 kWh lithium-ion battery
Maximum torque 516 lb.-ft. at 1100 - 4500 rpm
From 0 to 100 km/h: 4.6 seconds
Top track speed: 278 km/h
Top track speed (under purely electric power): 140 km/h
Typical electric range: 51 km *
*Estimate based on initial European testing, not confirmed for the Canadian Market
"For us, the plug-in hybrid represents the optimum way of combining efficiency with sporty driving."
Visually, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid differs from the other models due to its touches of color. The brake callipers, instrument cluster needles, border of the "e-hybrid" logos on the front doors and the model designation on the tailgate are in Acid green.
Maximum adrenalin level
Driving situations and driving modes.
The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid has 5 main driving states: electric driving, combustion engine driving, boost, coasting and recuperation, which are activated automatically as needed.
The mode switch on the steering wheel, derived from the 918 Spyder, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) are used for selecting between 6 drive modes – and the SPORT Response function for maximum responsiveness.
"You feel the driving pleasure as soon as you touch the gas pedal."
1. E-Power
In E-Power mode, the vehicle drives using only electric power. Kickdown of the gas pedal activates the combustion engine, enabling you to call upon the maximum available system output at any time. The electric motor then delivers an additional boost – e.g. for overtaking manoeuvres.
2. Hybrid Auto
In intelligent Hybrid Auto mode, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can be powered by the electric machine, the combustion engine or by both together, depending on the driving situation. The driving mode adapts itself automatically to the current environmental information to ensure efficient driving. "This mode works at its most efficient when route guidance is active in the navigation system." This means the Panamera knows the entire route from start to finish and is able to think ahead.
3. E-Hold
In E-Hold mode, the electric machine holds the battery state of charge. The energy in the battery can then be used at a later time, e.g. for purely electric driving or boost.
4. E-Charge
When driving in E-Charge mode, the high-voltage battery is charged by the combustion engine. This means that you can use a journey section on the highway, for example, to charge the battery for subsequent city driving using only electric power.
5. SPORT
"This mode is all about performance." The combustion engine is activated as standard in SPORT mode. It accelerates together with the electric motor, thereby allowing maximum boost.
6. SPORT PLUS
SPORT PLUS mode enables sporty driving with maximum power and maximum torque. The top track speed of 278 kph is also available in SPORT PLUS mode. The battery is charged with the power reserves of the combustion engine – and this energy can be used for boost operations. "The pedigree race circuit genes are on display here."
SPORT Response
The button in the middle of the mode switch is used to prepare the engine and gearbox for the fastest possible development of power – such as overtaking manoeuvres. In other words, maximum responsiveness – for around 20 seconds.
Everything in view
The display concept.
The centrally arranged Power Meter in the instrument cluster shows the power that is currently being drawn as well as the boost and recuperation zone, and informs the driver about the operational readiness of the vehicle. Hybrid screens show the E-range and battery state of charge, amongst other information.
Recharge with energy whenever you need to
The charging options.
Charging at home.
For quick and convenient charging, we recommend that you install an industrial electrical outlet. The practical wall mount for the Porsche Universal Charger (AC) is part of the standard equipment.
For more convenient operation and stowage of the charger, a charging dock created by Porsche Design is optionally available. As an alternative to wall mounting, you can choose the optional charging pedestal.
Charging on the road.
The Porsche Tequipment charging cable is available as an option for public charging pedestals.
Alternatively, you can charge the battery using the Porsche Universal Charger (AC) at any suitable, properly installed electrical socket, e.g. while at work or visiting friends.
You can store the charging equipment in the transport bag in the trunk to save space.
"With the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, we are taking a great step into the future of the Sports Car."
Dr. Gernot Döllner
