Police seek help to identify cyclist suspected in assault on woman

The Ottawa Police Service is seeking public assistance to identify a man who is accused of being involved in an altercation with another cyclist.

Police began looking into allegations of assault on Aug. 4 after a woman reported she had been assaulted while riding her bicycle in the area of Lyon Street near Wellington Avenue at around 8:15 a.m.

Details about the assault were not revealed by police.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, about six feet (183 cm) tall with a medium build, short dirty blond hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing beige cargo shorts, a black-and-grey striped T-shirt, black shoes and a bright green-and-yellow helmet. He was seen riding a black Canyon brand mountain bike.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
