Police declared a large section of the ByWard Market safe Saturday after they cordoned off a large area for investigation of a “suspicious vehicle.”
RCMP and Ottawa officers were called at about 10:30 a.m. to investigate the vehicle. According to various social media reports, the car was either padlocked, or had no interior.
George Street was closed from Sussex Drive to ByWard Market Square.
The OPS explosives team was called to the site. Chief Charles Bordeleau also attended to observe.
The all-clear was given at about 12:30 p.m.
