Ottawa police have closed the westbound lanes of Leitrim Road near Limebank Road in one of two major crashes Friday morning.
Emergency responders are on the scene and at least one person needed to be extricated from a vehicle.
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area.
Meanwhile, traffic was at a standstill on the 417 headed into the city, after a multi-vehicle chain reaction crash near Boundary Road.
One vehicle was forced almost upright, after a vehicle behind it wedged underneath its back bumper.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
