The provincial police watchdog is investigating after a 52-year-old man fell to his death from a balcony at 1300 McWatters Rd. on Saturday afternoon.
The Special Investigations Unit said in a news release that preliminary information suggested that Ottawa police responded to an apartment building on McWatters at about 12:45 p.m. Officers arrived and knocked on the door, and a short time later a man fell from the unit’s balcony, the release stated.
The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
The SIU urged anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
