The Ottawa police have closed off a city block downtown, not far from the Greyhound bus station, after reports of a man who has been seen with a weapon were made around 8:20 a.m.
According to police, the man was seen disturbing the peace early this morning and was seen carrying some sort of weapon. Police will not confirm if the weapon was thought to be a firearm.
He has barricaded himself in a building near the intersection of Flora Street and Percy Street. Ottawa police tactical officers and negotiators are now on the scene. Police have closed off the block to both vehicles and pedestrians and are encouraging people to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.
