A four-legged member of the Canada Border Services Agency has helped make one of the largest drug seizures ever at the Thousand Islands bridge crossing.
Detector dog Shaggy sniffed out nearly 100 kilograms of cocaine in the back of a trailer on Oct. 5. The four “undeclared” items were found hidden by the dog after border agents referred the driver to a secondary inspection of his commercial vehicle, the CBSA said Tuesday.
The CBSA said the four packages contained 98.8 kilograms of what it suspected to be cocaine.
The cocaine and the driver of the vehicle, a man from Laval, Que., were turned over to the RCMP. The man’s name was not released.
