Grab your galoshes, Ottawa, it’s going to be damp for the next few days, according to Environment Canada.

Starting Thursday morning, forecasters say there’s a 40-per-cent chance of showers, leading to more consistent rainfall later in the day.

Overnight showers could drop as much as 20 millimetres of rain by Friday morning.

Things are much more serious in the stretch of eastern Ontario down to the St. Lawrence River, where heavy rainfall warnings are in effect in Hawkesbury, Cornwall, Brockville and Kingston.

These areas could see anywhere from 45 mm to 70 mm of rain by Friday morning.

Thursday’s high in Ottawa should hit 12 C, overnight low is expected to be around 8 C.

Rain is expected to continue through Friday into Saturday, with a chilly front bringing a high of only about 6 C.

Autumn takes a more pleasant turn beginning Sunday with a few days of sun and highs of 6 C to 7 C.
