Ontario Provincial Police were called to a Pembroke school last Thursday after people reported seeing a student carrying a weapon on the property.
When they arrived the Pembroke Alternative School on Mary Street, officers located a 15-year-old boy who was in possession of a starter pistol.
The pistol was seized by police.
The teenager, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation.
He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next appearance in Youth Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Thursday.
