It’s like a pre-Christmas holiday from Old Man Winter.
Monday was both Ottawa’s snowiest Dec. 5 since 1926 and the coldest day since last April, according to the authoritative @YOW_Weather.
Now that Ottawa has dug out from under the 12.4 cm dump, Tuesday brings a mix of sun and cloud and a relatively balmy high of 2 C.
While the City of Ottawa was warning people to take care on roads and sidewalks during what might be a “slow and icy commute” thanks to overnight rain, crews were out salting and OC Transpo wasn’t reporting delays.

Traffic appeared to be much improved over Monday, with the usual fender-benders and no appreciable delays.
Wednesday looks a little messier, with indications we’ll wake up to two cm more snow Wednesday morning, then periods of rain mixed with snow ending near noon.
Flurries threaten Thursday night and it gets colder heading into the weekend with a biting low of -17 C predicted for Saturday night and more snow likely Sunday.
