It’s a marshmallow world out there, as the song goes.

But if you’re day doesn’t involve playing in the snow and whipped-cream topped cocoa, Monday’s morning’s commute is a going to be more like molasses in January.

By around 7 a.m., the Ottawa airport was reporting a series of both arrival and departure cancellations, most local school boards had pulled buses off the road and OC Transpo had nearly a dozen trips nixed.

No surprise that #snowday and #otttraffic were trending on Twitter.

The City of Ottawa’s traffic centre was reporting a string of snarls on snow-covered roads, the latest the Champlain Bridge reduced to one lane southbound due to a collision.

About a dozen centimetres had fallen by early Monday morning with five more on the way.

Environment Canada is predicting snow ending Monday afternoon a high of zero.
