A 25-year-old man was in serious but stable condition Thursday following an industrial accident in which his thumb was amputated by a heavy lift machine.
Paramedics were called to an automotive repair shop on Colonnade Road just before 10 a.m.
The worker had been freed by coworkers after he caught it in the hoist.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating.
