A man and woman are facing drug trafficking charges after Ottawa police raided a marijuana dispensary on Montreal Road in Vanier.

The Ottawa police’s drug section executed a search warrant last Friday at 613 Medicinals on 274 Montreal Rd. and seized a variety of drugs and property, including pot candies, gummies, pills, cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A man and woman were arrested without incident, and face charges of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime. Police said in a release Tuesday their names are not being released “so as not to jeopardize the integrity of the ongoing investigation.”

“The Ottawa Police Service Drug Section would like to inform the public that storefront marijuana dispensaries are illegal and have no association with lawful medical marijuana,” said the release. “Investigations related to such illegal storefronts will continue.”

The Montreal Road dispensary raid follows a seven-shop raid in November, which saw the arrest of nine store employees. Several of those shops have since reopened.
