A working smoke detector is being credited with an early warning to a Gatineau home fire Wednesday morning that has temporarily displaced four people.
Firefighters were alerted shortly before 6 a.m. of a fire at 481 Main St., north of Saint-René Boulevard.
The early notification and heavy attack enabled responders to limit damages to the structure, although the fire caused an estimated $140,000 worth of damages.
The fire was declaed under control shortly after 7 a.m. There were no injuries reported.
