Police have charged two people after another raid on a store front marijuana dispensary in Chinatown.
The raid happened Friday at an illegal pot shop at 646 Somerset St. W. The two people arrested — a man and a woman — are charged with trafficking and possession of drugs, as well as possession of the proceeds of crime.
Police seized marijuana and “THC edibles,” THC gummies and THC pills, cash and cellphones in the raid at the small, wood-frame house on Somerset between Bronson Avenue and Percy Street.
Police did not release the names of the two people arrested, saying on Monday they were part of an ongoing investigation.
Friday’s raid is the latest in an Ottawa police crackdown on marijuana dispensaries that began Nov. 4 with simultaneous raids at six of the city’s largest storefront operations. A Dec. 30 raid at 613 Medicinals on 274 Montreal Rd. also resulted in charges against an unnamed man and women and the seizure of a variety of THC-related products and property.
