Ottawa police are continuing their crackdown on illegal marijuana dispensaries, raiding the Topspot shop on Bank Street on Friday.

The drug squad was still sorting through evidence on Sunday and no charges had yet been laid.

The Topspot Herbal Clinic dispensary on Bank near James Street opened in the fall. At the time staff said they planned to sell only to medical marijuana patients.

Medical marijuana is legal, but not if sold from stores. It must be purchased from producers licensed by Health Canada and sent by mail.

Topspot is the 10th dispensary to be raided by police since early November. Six of the raided shops have simply reopened. The Topspot had a notice tacked on the door Sunday saying it was temporarily closed.

Half a dozen police, some wearing black balaclavas, entered the dispensary Friday afternoon, said Meaghan Griffiths, a clerk at the Cash4You payday loan shop next door.

Topspot is locally owned and operated, according to its website. It features a photograph of a man in a white medical coat with the slogan Your Health is Our Priority, and it lists a wide variety of products for sale, from dried weed (including Head Banger and Pink Kush) to concentrates, capsules, oils, and cannabis-infused cookies, lollipops, coffee, tea and bath salts.
