The City’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee today approved amendments to the Village of Richmond Secondary Plan that will require any new development located within the village’s Development and Industrial Lands to tie into public communal well services. In addition, development in the Industrial Lands would need to connect to the central wastewater collection system.

This amendment removes a policy exception that was enacted in 2010 to allow some limited development using private services. At that time, the servicing for the Village of Richmond had not been fully planned.

A commemorative naming proposal was considered and the Committee agreed to recognize the outstanding community service of two West Carleton-March residents: Judy and David Makin. The newly named David and Judy Makin Trail is located within Sheila McKee Park, in Dunrobin.

The Committee also approved minor Zoning By-law updates for three surplus farm dwellings, as per conditions imposed by the Committee of Adjustment.

Reports for all these items approved by the Committee will go to City Council on Wednesday, February 8.
