A group music lovers and students had a fabulous morning earlier today. It was our great pleasure to see Lang Lang, pianist and the latest international shining start on the classical music stage.
Lang Lang was born in Shengyang, China and now lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although he is only 21-year old, he has played with several greatest symphony orchestras. They include the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, etc.
Above all, he has been widely exalted for his engaging style in handling his music. The concentrated emotional content streaming from his figures on the piano keys is so mesmerizing, that you would forget that you are watching a piano show. Rather, you would get the feeling of emerging in the music and being part of the piece he plays.
More than 70 people showed up in his pre-show rehearsal. Among them included reporters from several Ottawa English and Chinese news organizations. After his rehearsal, Lang Lang had a chat with us and answered many questions. He even told us stories from his childhood in China and how he learned how to play piano.
The event was organized by OACCUA - Ottawa Chinese Canadian Alumni Association.
