It took Gatineau police officers less than two hours at a single intersection to nab more than two dozen rush-hour commuters using their phones behind the wheel.
They set up at Des Allumetières Boulevard and Demontigny Street from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday, pulling over 27 offenders who were using a device while driving.
It cost each of them $127 and four demerit points.
Bottom line, Gatineau police say, using a cellphone while driving is dangerous and illegal. If motorists need to use the phone they must pull over, they warn.
