An Ottawa man has been charged with several firearm and drug-related offences after police searched his home Wednesday.
Police said officers went to a home on Glen Avenue to investigate information of a man possibly in possession of a gun. After speaking to the suspect, a search warrant was executed later in the day and investigators from the guns and gangs unit seized a bulletproof vest, a handgun, .22 calibre rounds and one gram of MDMA, also known as ecstasy.
Michael Spika, 20, of Ottawa is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of drugs, and breach of undertaking/recognizance.
He appeared in court on Thursday.
