Stop and admire a few early crocuses on Wednesday as spring finally appears to be taking a firmer hold on the region.

Wednesday’s forecast is for clouds, a 30 per cent chance of morning flurries, northwest winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40 and a high of 6 C. Winds are expected to become light in the evening as the temperature drops to -7 C.

On Thursday, commuters will at least be trekking to work in the morning under mainly sunny skies with another spring-like high of 7 C. Clouds are expected to roll in by the afternoon commute with a 40-per-cent chance of flurries and low of -2 C into Friday.

Outaouais commuters will face a non-weather complication as the union representing about 600 Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) mechanics and drivers have warned that they’ll be out on a third, one-day rotating strike March 30.

On Friday, we may get a wee bit more winter.

The forecast for the last day of March is for a 70-per-cent chance of rain or snow for both day and night and high of 3 C and low of 1 C.

April Fool’s Day is expected to feature clouds, a 40-per-cent chance of flurries or rain and a high of 2 C and low of -2 C.

Watch for a mix of sun and cloud to start the week with highs of 10 C Sunday, 9 C Monday and 7 C Tuesday.
