Ottawa police have arrested two teenagers after a pair of robberies early Thursday in which the robbers carried stun guns, and one victim was stunned.
About 2 a.m. Thursday, two men approached a man who was walking alone on Heron Road near the Bronson Avenue overpass. The two were armed with batons that had a blue light at one end. They took the victim’s wallet and cell phone.
About 3:25 a.m., three young men with their faces covered confronted two people leaving a bar at 4000 Bridle Path Drive, south of the South Keys mall. The three attackers ordered the two victims to hand over whatever they had. Police say there was a scuffle, and one victims was kicked in the head and tasered.
Police arrested two suspects nearby a few minutes later, and say they expect a third arrest soon. They also seized a baton-style stun gun equipped with a flashlight.
They have charged Connor Leask, 18, of Ottawa, and a 17-year-old who can’t be named because of his age. Each suspect faces three counts of robbery, and a number of weapons charges including possession of a prohibited device and assault with a weapon.
Detectives think it’s possible there may be other victims. If so, they are encouraged to call police.
